How do I adopt an animal? ▼
Send a message below or visit yumareptiles.com or yhbr.org! Tell me what kind of animal you're interested in, your living situation, and any experience you have. I'll walk you through the process — it's approachable and adoption-friendly, not intimidating.
I found an injured or unwanted reptile. What do I do? ▼
Contact me immediately! Don't panic — most reptiles are harmless and just need a safe place. I'll guide you through safely containing the animal and arrange pickup or drop-off as soon as possible. You don't need to know what species it is — just keep it calm and contained.
Can I volunteer or foster without experience? ▼
Absolutely — and it's so needed! Fosters are especially critical for getting animals out of shelters. No prior rescue experience required — I'll provide full support, supplies guidance, and ongoing check-ins. Reach out and we'll find the right role for you.
Do I need reptile experience to adopt one? ▼
Not necessarily! First-time reptile owners are very welcome. I do want to match you with an animal that fits your experience level — so a brand-new owner might start with a calm, beginner-friendly species rather than something more complex. I'll help you every step of the way.
I need to surrender my pet. Will I be judged? ▼
Zero judgment — ever. Life changes, circumstances shift, and recognizing that an animal needs more than you can give right now is an act of love, not failure. Reach out and I'll work with you to find a safe, caring placement without any guilt trip.
